MEG Foundation marks 21st anniversary with Cavite orphans and street kids

Megaworld Foundation celebrated its “birthday” in Bacoor, Cavite, recently.

In honor of its 21st anniversary, the Foundation held “Mega Birthday Blast,” a day that was as much a commemoration of its over two decades as an institution, as it was a day of making 50 children happy. These children were a gathering of youth from the all-girls orphanage of Jardin de Maria (Somascan Sisters) Foundation Inc., as well as a handful of street kids that scavenged scrap materials for a living.

Alumni scholars who are now Megaworld employees were invited by the Foundation to party with the children in attendance. The kids, in turn, were enthusiastic joining in the dancing and singing as a way to express their thanks.

The children took part in classic Filipino birthday games, such as “pabitin,” “the boat is sinking,” and “Hep Hep Hooray.” Afterwards, they offered a birthday song to Megaworld Foundation and wished the institution more blessed years to come.

A scholar who joined the activity expressed how much she enjoyed the experience. For her, it was an opportunity to entertain the kids and be an inspiration to all of them even for just a moment.

Camille Ann Rodriguez from Management Information shared that giving back to the community gave her so much fulfillment.

Ang sarap ng feeling na tinulungan ako ng Foundation. Ngayon, time ko naman para tumulong sa iba,” she said.

For the past two decades, Megaworld Foundation has dedicated its resources to uplifting the lives of underprivileged Filipinos.
